A rare 19th century waywiser. With a lovely turned mahogany handle and a hand forged iron wheel with a calibrated brass dial.

England, c1850.

51" high, the wheel being 23" diameter.


Used to measure distances on foot, the waywiser was one of the most important instruments owned by 18th /  19th century surveyors.
